In this version of the fairy tale Rapunzel, a young man named Rampion has lived with his adopted mother and teacher, Gothelle for as long as he can remember. He is never allowed to leave the hidden tower where he lives . The reason for this is unknown to him but he never questioned it, Rampion learned to do what Gothelle said and to trust in her wisdom. Gothelle taught him how to read, write, and everything else that she felt was important for him to know. One thing that Rampion never was taught about though was the spirits. Immortal being that are in charge of different things in nature such as the moon, wind, and earth. One day Rampion finds a book Gothelle had hidden from him, a book about the spirits that he find extremely interesting. With the thought of the spirits his desire to know more gets the better of him and he leaves the tower. In the town he bumps into a girl, the only other human being he's ever seen besides Gothelle. His fear gets the better of him and he quickly returns to his tower before Gothelle can find out, but when he does he is is visited by a couple strange people, a boy named Morgan and later a man named Falk. Falk explains to Rampion that he is something called a secondary spirit. A human who can see and interact with the spirits. He also explains that Rampion has been missing for 19 years and none of spirits have been able to find him.
